If you follow Urban Farmhouse Designs on Social Media, you’ve probably seen “Flat Cherami.” She was created by my marketing team, in a desperate attempt to get me in pictures. I had been in Texas for many weeks working on our new Dallas Farmer’s Market Store. I logged into Instagram one night…and there she was. LOL. I never know where she will pop up. ” Take it away…Flat Cherami!!!
The HGTV Loop
Many of our customers come from out of town and do the HGTV destination loop (as I like to call it). They start at The Mercantile in Pawhuska, OK then head over to The Silos in Waco, TX. Whether you are in Oklahoma or Texas you can always shop at one of our Urban Farmhouse Locations.
Urban Farmhouse Designs
If you do find yourself in Oklahoma, you don’t want to forget to stop by the Urban Farmhouse Designs flagship store on Western just shy of the Oklahoma City downtown area. With the 28,000 square foot showroom, you can get lost for hours looking at the unique furniture and accessories. There is even a 2-story playhouse for the kiddos!
Our Farmhouse Finds Warehouse (next to our main 28,000 sqft. warehouse) houses our glue up and sanding departments, as well as our Candle Company.
If you’re looking to score some quality lumber for your own DIY project, you can find that at Urban Lumber Company.
Where To Stay In OKC
If you do decide to visit #UFD-Oklahoma then I suggest staying at the Colcord. This hotel is filled with history and a modern touch. The Colcord was originally Oklahoma’s first skyscraper, built by Charles Colcord in 1909. It was redesigned as a boutique hotel and opened in 2006.
And If you’re feeling hungry while you are there they offer modern dining downstairs at Flint. Their Grilled Hanger Steak & Jumbo Gulf Shrimp come with a side Manchego grits (grits are one of my favs) that are positively the most delicious accompaniment to any meal you can get in OKC.
If you can snag a room on one of the top floors, you will see a beautiful view of Oklahoma City’s downtown area. On top of that, the Colcord Hotel has teamed with Urban Farmhouse Designs and is offering a special discount to our customers! Just follow this link myufd.com/ColcordHotel and enter the code: URFH to get the #UFD special rate!
Great Places to Eat when you Visit
OKC has some great grub. Here are some of my favorite places to eat downtown when making a trip to Urban Farmhouse. They are easy to Uber to and close to the Colcord.
My favorite place to sit and work out of the bustle of the office, while having a quiet calm cup of coffee is Coffee Slingers Roasters. Their atmosphere is laid back and casual, with the aroma of freshly pressed coffee lingering in the air.
With their long community tables, I always have a place to sit and potential new friends to visit with. There are a lot of places to choose from when looking for a coffee shop.
Farm Girl Favorite: The Huckleberry Espresso wins for me every time.
If you like to Brunch:
I love the vibe at Aurora in the Plaza. It has delicious coffee, locally roasted by Hoboken Coffee Roasters located in historic Guthrie, OK. Their entire menu is filled with delicious breakfast items.
Farm Girl Favorite: is the incredible Grapefruit Brulee or one of their rotating pastries. But don’t forget a lavender latte to go with it all.
Hatch puts a unique spin on comfort food classics and is creating new ones!
Farm Girl Favorite: Chieftain’s Revenge
For Lunch or Dinner:
Empire Slice House
Empire Slice House is a rock n’ roll pizza joint and bar located in Plaza District. Their cool atmosphere and groovy music pairs great with an entire pizza pie or one of their unique “slices of the day.” Make sure to get some of their legendary “pink sauce” to dip your pizza in.
Farm Girl Favorite: A slice of “Ghostface Killah”
The Mule is best known for their hot melts and cold brews. Also located in the Plaza District, The Mule serves delicious brunch, lunch, and dinner. Their “fancy-ass grilled cheeses,” as we call them here in Oklahoma, are the best in town.
You can leave your mark by making up a drink of your own and writing it on their “Leave a Drink” chalkboard! Be sure to grab one of their signature “Don’t be a Jackass” cups on your way out.
Farm Girl Favorite: The Turkey Sandie
Big Truck Taco
Big Truck Taco is located in Uptown off of 23rd Street! They are a friendly taco joint for all people! Big Truck has a breakfast menu and a lunch/dinner menu that are served all day. In the second year, they were opened, they appeared on Food Network and were voted “America’s Favorite Food Truck” nationwide.
A fun item on Big Truck’s Menu is called the Fifth Amendment. The Fifth Amendment is a mystery taco that they change every single day. They will not tell you what it is until after you have eaten it! Try it if you dare.
Farm Girl Favorite: Migas
You will have the BEST onion burger you have ever had in your life here guaranteed. Wanna know the best part? It is crazy cheap. You can get a burger, drink, and fries, all for under $11. Nic’s is located in downtown Oklahoma City!
You might have seen Nic’s on an episode of Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives where Nic’s made a long-lasting impression on Guy Fieri. You’ve got to stop by the quaint diner and try the best burger ever!
Farmgirl Favorite: Onion Burger and Fries
