The Best Is Yet To Come!
My husband and I had a lot of Expansion going on in OKC for 2017. We Officially opened The Urban Farmhouse Lumber Company and busted out an existing wall in-between our Farmhouse Finds Warehouse and metal shop to make room for more woodworkers, finishers, sanders and metal workers. Our staff has now risen to 80 employees and is steadily rising. Mid year, unbeknownst to me, my husband decided to acquire another warehouse (in the OKC Farmer’s Market District on the same block as all of our other warehouses) to renovate. You can only imagine my utter JOY & EXCITEMENT when he told me of this Project (I’m being facetious right now, of course)! In the end we turned it into our Marketing and Development Center. This is where we house much-needed office space for Urban, but also allow others off the street to use our facility for additional purposes like weekly and monthly meetings. Our main objective is to give back to the community by allowing people to have access to a facility to better themselves and others through classes and continuing education courses. We were also voted by 405 Magazines to be the Faces of Reclaimed Lumber.
Urban Threads Opens
In April of 2017 I finally got to fulfill one of my life long dreams, and that was to opened a small Boho Clothing store! I opened it on the 2nd Floor of Urban Farmhouse designs. I have the cutest Store Manager Anna who works in there too. We have so much fun going to market to buy clothes & accessories together, but that’s for an entire other blog post (which I will do next month about our adventures to market). Check out @urbanthreadsokc on Insta Story sometime. Anna’s quite a Riot! You can also click here to check out our Urban Threads online store. We are adding items daily.
I think the biggest change for us will be the expansion into the state of Texas. We announced the opening of our new retail location at the Dallas farmers market in downtown Dallas this last year. This is a brand new building we are moving into so it took time for them to get the “white box” ready for us. We knew it would take 9 plus months for them to even hand the space over to us so we could start our part of the build out process.

Updates On Texas
This has not detoured us from getting open in Texas though. We also have a large Online Distribution Center 6 miles away from our retail location that we are finishing up so that we can receive and ship product from there. You will be able to purchase reclaimed wood in the raw and Signature #UFD product directly out of our Online Distribution Center on Maple Ave. What a lot of people don’t realize is that we are the MANUFACTURE and also the RETAILER of our product! When you purchase from Urban Farmhouse you are buying our product at Wholesale cost all day every day. We do not sell to other vendors throughout the United States. If we did, they would double our price and sell it back to you!!! Now, how does that make a lick of sense??? LOL.

Thomas Family Update:
Thomas Family Throw Back
I found this picture of all of us back when we first started down the path of buying and selling Reclaimed Wood. This was taken 4 1/2 years ago. We started selling Reclaimed Wood on Craigslist then started using the wood we had in stock to build tables in our 1 car garage. This is how Urban Farmhouse came to life! Most people don’t know this but I bought the name Urban Farmhouse Designs over 9 years ago. I had the website name purchased for it too. I wasn’t quite sure what I was going to do with the name at the time but I just felt I should have it. As a designer sometimes you see trends before they start. In the beginning I thought I might use it for a Design Company someday. That was an under statement. I still can’t believe we have a retail store, someone pinch me!
